Pottery Classes in East Brunswick, New Jersey

I generally run four sessions a year. The next session of my pottery classes will be starting the week of March 12, 2012. If you are interested in attending, be sure to send your $25.00 deposit check as soon as possible. The classes fill up fast. I will be running three sessions, Monday and Tuesday evenings as well as a morning session on Fridays.

This is a beginner level class in hand building, but all levels are welcome. The class is seven sessions; the first five sessions will be spent on building, the sixth session is for glazing and the last session is a party. At the party all three sessions come together to discuss the work and share a glass of wine. You can sign up at anytime, but space is usually very limited.

If you need to miss a class you can make it up in another one of my classes if there is space. The cost of the class is $235. This includes everything you will need to get started; all the firings, tools, one color glaze and clay. You cannot make up a glaze class. If you have to miss the glaze class, you will have to arrange for a private session at an additional fee. We usually do 1-2 projects in this time period, depending upon the complexity of the projects. Registered students are able to purchase additional class time for $10.00 per hour. There is a $5 fee for additional glaze colors to cover the cost of the masking material.

This class will present a wide range of techniques to make functional or sculptural pottery. Creative expression will be encouraged. You can plan on having a good time while learning new skills with your neighbors. Pottery demonstrations will be primarily hand building, but I will provide instruction on the potters' wheel to those who are interested. I have only one wheel. Time on the wheel will have to be taken by turn. I will have an 6-person maximum for each classes. No students under 16 years of age please.
